Treatment of Hemorrhoids - Your Free Hemorrhoids Resource.

Hemorrhoid treatments can be classified into two major forms: medicated products and fixative procedures.

The first major form of hemorrhoid treatment is done through the use of curative products. This type of medication has two major categories: the oral and the topical treatments. Oral hemorrhoid medications come in the form of capsules and pills, which are ingested two to three times per day within a given time-frame. On the other hand, topical creams, ointments, and gels for hemorrhoids are directly applied on the affected region to provide instant relief. In terms of their contents, oral and topical hemorrhoid treatments may contain either synthetic chemicals or natural ingredients.

Furthermore, in order to maximize the effectiveness of these hemorrhoid products, you must carefully follow the instructions and take the appropriate amounts at all times. Never exceed the quantity or the frequency of the treatments as this may worsen the ailment instead of curing it.

The second general form of treatment involves medical procedures which are often required by severe cases of hemorrhoids. These procedures are administered by a doctor in a medical establishment and are usually undergone by people who have had hemorrhoids for several months and those whose ailments were not cured by pills and ointments. The first type and the most conventional of these procedures is hemorrhoidectomy. This refers to a surgical method to cut off the hemorrhoidal tissue. Another fixative method is rubber band ligation wherein the doctor ties up the swollen vein to block the blood flow and slough off the protruding flesh.

Lastly, prior to choosing any of the previously mentioned procedures, you need to consult a doctor to know the benefits and possible risks of each method.
